Cheaters beware. High technology has allowed the development of Biometric Signature-ID, a program that can recognize when a student has someone else take their tests and do their homework. The six Kansas community colleges in the eduKan consortium have added BioSig-ID to their online teaching programs to ensure that students are actually doing the work they turn in though the online eduKan program, said Pratt Community College Vice President for Instruction Jim Stratford. The eduKan consortium has become the first educational group to use this type of system in their teaching programs. With online enrollments showing substantial growth, about 25 percent in recent years, and student cheating on the rise, eduKan wanted to assure that their students were actually taking their tests.
