April 1, 2013 Dallas, TX--(PR.com)— Ann M. Jenkins, Instructional Designer, ICCOC, a consortium of 7 colleges in Iowa, and Jeff Maynard, CEO of Biometric Signature ID, (BSI), are scheduled to co-present at the upcoming Pearson CITE Symposium on Online Learning Emerging.
The presentation will highlight the cost savings and long-term benefits from ICCOC’s use of BSI’s patented BioSig-ID™ biometric password technology for student identity proofing. Instructors saved up to 20 hours per semester by switching from proctoring to BioSig-ID and found no differences in student grades. Jenkins and Maynard will be sharing the results of the ICCOC’s user experiences over the last year and how the new BioSig-ID audit trail was responsible for identifying suspicious student behaviors leading to cheating.
ICCOC’s BioSig-ID Student Authentication Project is their proactive plan to satisfy the concerns of federal lawmakers about the lack of face-to-face, faculty/student interaction and academic integrity. Together BioSig-ID and Pearson LearningStudio have created a software only system that uses gesture biometrics - a behavior versus a physical biometric - to validate student ID during the delivery of course content. Join us to hear what the faculty and students say about this new verification system that can be used on any PC or mobile device.
In December of 1999, seven of Iowa’s community colleges formed a partnership and organized the Iowa Community College Online Consortium (ICCOC). Representatives from each partner college participated in a comprehensive planning process to design and implement the consortium’s technical infrastructure as well as establish objectives, policies, and procedures. The initial objectives were to establish resources and applications, train online instructors, develop online courses, coordinate student services support, and implement an informational Web site. The ICCOC was able to obtain these objectives through the commitment of all consortium partners to provide quality online educational opportunities to students. Today the ICCOC continues to assist our partner consortium colleges deliver quality online education to students all over the world. It has been our constant endeavor to provide training, communication, standards of quality, a collaborative working environment and a variety of learning opportunities.
